MARCH · CAUSE
National nutrition month.
Dietitians, school wellness programs, hospital outreach and corporate benefits teams. The product should support the message, not contradict it.
March belongs to registered dietitians, school nutrition directors, hospital community-health teams and the wellness side of HR. It’s a teaching month more than a fundraising one, which changes what the product needs to do — it’s a prompt attached to a habit, not a souvenir.
Buy things that touch food and water
Water bottles dominate this list and they deserve to. Hydration is the one nutrition message that needs no explanation and no follow-up, and a bottle on a desk delivers it every day for a year. After that: reusable grocery totes, lunch bags, produce bags — anything that shows up at the point where a food decision actually gets made.
Cutting boards and kitchen items work well for a smaller, higher-value audience — a cooking demo, a diabetes education class, a staff wellness prize.
Careful with the candy
Worth saying out loud: branded confectionery at a nutrition event undercuts the whole message, and somebody will notice. If you want an edible, mints or a small snack tin can work, but the safer play is to spend the food budget on the actual demo and put the logo on the reusable item.
Schools have their own rules
If you’re buying for a district, check the local wellness policy before ordering anything food-adjacent, and check whether branded items from outside vendors need approval. It’s a short conversation in February and an expensive one in March.
