Buying notes for Graduation
Graduation is the easiest event on this list to plan and one of the most often rushed. The date has been fixed since the start of the academic year and the headcount is known to within a handful, yet a striking number of these orders arrive four weeks out.
Two buyers, two products
The institution buys the keepsake handed to every graduate — usually drinkware, a frame, or something with the year on it. The alumni office buys the thing that starts a lifelong relationship, which is a different, better item aimed at a much smaller group. Running both through one order gets you an average product that suits neither.
Print the year
This is the rare occasion where dating the item is right. Nobody wants an undated graduation keepsake — the year is the whole point, and it is what makes the tumbler survive three house moves. Accept that leftovers are worthless and order to the actual class list rather than rounding up.
