Getting it right comes down to three specs. Fabric first. Cotton pique is the classic — textured, breathable, and the best surface for embroidery because the raised weave supports dense stitching. Polyester performance knits wick moisture and dry fast, which matters for outdoor crews and Florida summers, but they need low-migration dyes or the shirt color will bleed into your logo thread. Cotton-poly blends split the difference and wrinkle least. Second, cut. Order the women's pattern alongside the men's rather than sizing down. It costs nothing extra and it is the difference between a uniform staff wear and one they avoid. Third, placement. Left chest is standard. A pocket polo moves the logo to the right chest or sleeve.
