What to know about Laser Engraving
Nothing is added. A laser removes or alters the top layer of the material, so the mark is the item — it cannot peel, scratch off or wash out, and it will outlast anything printed. This is the method for things meant to survive: tumblers, tools, awards, anything that lives in a car or a toolbox.
The trade is color. You get one, and the material picks it, not you. Stainless burns to a pale gray-white. Anodized aluminum comes back bright silver. Bamboo and wood go dark brown. Glass frosts. Powder-coated drinkware reveals the bare metal underneath, which is usually the most striking result of the lot and the reason that combination sells as well as it does.
Because you only get one tone, contrast is everything. Fine detail engraves beautifully, but a logo that relies on color to separate its elements collapses into a single silhouette. Vector line art is ideal. Send us the mark and the proof will show you what it looks like without its colors.
Lead time is 8–12 business days after proof approval — longer than printing, because engraving is paced by how much area the laser has to cover. Your file is kept two years, so reorders need no new setup.
