Quantity pricing

The more you run, the less each one costs

Setup is fixed and spreads across the run, which is why crossing a tier can lower your total even though you are buying more. Pick a quantity to start a quote at that tier.

Tiers marked Under $500 fall below our order minimum on their own. That is not a problem — the $500 minimum is per order, not per item, so most people reach it by combining a few items or moving up a tier. Tell us what the whole order looks like and we will price it together.

One-time setup covering artwork prep and your proof. Kept on file two years, so reorders carry none. Unit prices are for a one-position, one-colour imprint and are confirmed on your written quote — extra colours, extra positions, PMS matching and freight are quoted with the job. Need a quantity between tiers, or above the top one? Ask and we will price it.

About this item

Retractable Badge Holder

Why a reel instead of a lanyard

The badge reel exists for one situation: buildings where people badge in and out of doors all day. A lanyard means lifting the badge to the reader with both hands, or leaning awkwardly into a wall panel. A reel clips at the belt or pocket, extends about two feet, taps the reader, and retracts. Anyone working in a hospital, data center, lab or secured office will tell you the difference matters by the fiftieth door.

Cord versus chain versus vinyl strap

Nylon cord is the standard and the most durable. Retractable steel chain handles heavier composite badges without the reel straining. Vinyl straps are the cheapest and the first thing to fail – the strap splits where it enters the housing.

Pull strength is worth asking about. A reel rated for a thin proximity card will fight a thick multi-technology badge and the spring gives out inside a year.

Attachment matters as much as the reel

Belt clips are standard. Alligator or bulldog clips attach to a pocket or shirt placket, which is better for anyone not wearing a belt – scrubs, lab coats, dresses. Carabiner styles clip to a bag strap or a scrub pocket loop.

The badge end matters too. A plain slot clip tears a paper or cardstock badge within weeks. If the badges are not rigid plastic, specify a reinforced slot or pair the reel with a rigid holder.

Decoration

The reel housing is a small, curved, hard plastic surface. That constrains artwork more than people expect. A compact logo mark works. A logo with a tagline usually does not. Full-color dome labels are the best result on this shape – the label is printed flat and then coated with a clear resin dome that sits into the housing recess, which keeps edges from lifting.

Send us your mark and we will tell you honestly whether it survives at this size before you order a thousand of them.

Ordering

These are usually bought alongside lanyards and badge holders for the same rollout. Order together and we can match artwork and consolidate the setup. We cover up to 3% spoilage and keep your artwork on file for two years.

Tell us the date that matters

Production starts when you approve the proof, not when you place the order. Give us the in-hands date first and we will tell you honestly whether it lands — before you commit to anything.

Send this and we can quote

  • Quantity, and whether it can flex
  • Your logo — vector if you have it
  • Number of colours and where it goes
  • In-hands date and ship-to address
